“The gift of a book can impact a student for a lifetime,” said Ed Wade, Spring ISD Education Foundation president. “We want to change the lives of students by giving them a book they can read not only during their holiday break but can keep forever.”
Each book will be wrapped and presented to students who attend the winter wonderland event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Spring ISD Transportation Center, 341 East Richey Road.
Wade believes that this initiative is directly tied to Spring ISD’s five-year strategic plan and supports the school district’s goal of improving literacy for all students.
“The district has made it clear that improving reading and literacy is directly connected with student achievement and success. We are happy to offer our support though this type of initiative and are even more excited about seeing the faces of students as they unwrap their books and read,” said Wade.
Those interested in contributing to the Give the Gift of Reading campaign are encouraged to make a donation directly to the Spring ISD Education Foundation by visiting www.give2springkids.org and selecting Give the Gift of Reading. A donation of $10 supports one student, a $50 donation supports five students and a $100 donation supports ten students; however any amount will be accepted. All donations are tax-deductible.
