At the Pancakes and Pajamas celebration, the families enjoyed pancakes and eggs, educational activities, and all the children received a gift-wrapped book to take home. Building literacy is a major component of our new five-year plan for the district, and Spring ISD is encouraging reading among all of its students.
Dr. LaQuita Carter, Spring ISD Family and Community Engagement Executive Director, said the event was about creating networks of support among the families. “The partnerships we are building with our parents are vital as their children grow as learners. We are extremely thrilled to have IHOP partner with us as we celebrate our successes with our families,” said Carter.
The Spring ISD home instructors have been visiting participating parents weekly in their homes to guide them in activities they can do with their children to help prepare them for school. Additionally, families will be receiving monthly training as a group, this was the first of many opportunities to bring them together.
