HOUSTON – Jan. 20, 2016 – Spring ISD parents of children in kindergarten through fifth-grade who would like to help their students become better readers and writers are invited to attend a free Parent University.
The district is hosting four opportunities for parents to choose the time and location that works best for them.
- Jan. 28 – 9 to 10:30 a.m., Spring ISD Transportation Center, 341 East Richey Rd., Houston, English and Spanish language available.
- Feb. 11 – 6 to 7:30 p.m., Burchett Elementary School, 3366 James Leo Dr., Spring, English and Spanish language available.
- Feb. 18 – 6 to 7:30 p.m., Beneke Elementary School, 3840 Briarchase, Houston, English, Spanish and Vietnamese language available.
- Feb. 25 – 6 to 7:30 p.m., Salyers Elementary School, 25705 Hardy St., Spring, English and Spanish language available.
The sessions will present how reading and writing instruction is changing across the country and make parents aware of instructional changes in their own child’s classroom. Parents will leave the session understanding what their child’s reading and writing assignments will look like and how they can better help them be successful in those areas.
