HOUSTON – Feb. 4, 2016 – On National Signing Day, Feb. 3, student athletes at three Spring ISD high schools – Dekaney, Spring and Westfield – signed letters of intent to attend universities and compete in collegiate athletic programs. The ceremonies took center stage in each of the school’s auditoriums, with family, friends and local media looking on.
With the audience gathered to celebrate the achievements of their student athletes, Westfield Football Head Coach Matt Meekins, emphasised the years of hard work performed by the scholarship-winners, and reminded the community of the important role that they all played in the students’ athletic and academic success.
“We are a team. Together, everyone achieves more. From these guys’ teammates, to their coaches, to their teachers, their mentors for the last four years, our administrators, our parents, and above all else, our community – I want to thank all these people for the support along the way to help these young men and all of our young men get to where they are today,” said Meekins.
Ten Spring High School student athletes signed letters of intent. They are Alilia Feletoa, Utah State University Eastern; Jalan Cooper, Blinn College; Tyrek Domio, Oklahoma Panhandle State University; Joseph Dorceus, University of Memphis; Rashad King, Tyler Junior College; Addison Mahana, Texas A&M Commerce; Cameron Rose, Oklahoma Panhandle State University; Bravvion Roy, Baylor University; Ka’Darian Smith, University of Houston; and Cody Davis, Southwestern University.
Ten Westfield High School student athletes signed letters of intent. They are Jamarus Bolding, Blinn Junior College; Tyrie Cleveland, University of Florida; Dillon Sterling-Cole, Arizona State University; Jeremy Edwards, Blinn Junior College; Garner Harris, Cincinnati Christian University; Joshua Leblanc, The Citadel – Military College of South Carolina; Tilden Long, Kilgore Junior College; Keeath Magee II, Texas A&M University; Ed Oliver, University of Houston; and Kenneth Rose – Cincinnati Christian University
Six Dekaney High School student athletes signed letters of intent. They are Adrian Hardy, University of Oklahoma; Dakavian Champion, Southern University; Justin Brown, Arkansas Pine-Bluff; Aaron Cephus, Rice University; Andre Harris, Texas College and Fordale Jones, Texas College.
