HOUSTON – Feb. 12, 2016 – Spring ISD administrators paid a surprise visit to two school campuses, as they announced the 2016 Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year, Tia Simmons, principal of Spring High School, and Chad Schmidt, principal at Anderson Elementary.
Family and friends were also on hand at the two campuses as the selections were revealed. The news was quickly announced over each school’s intercom system, and both principals were quick to thank their respective campus staffs for the work they do every day.
“I just want to say congratulations to all of us, because any recognition given here, comes from the work that you all do,” said Simmons.
The sentiment was the same at Anderson Elementary. “This staff is phenomenal. I love the work that they do, and I love the impact that they make,” said Schmidt.
The principals were selected using campus observations, various data points and votes from other campus leaders. Principals were also judged on their commitment to the district’s priorities and their school’s community engagement.
The principals will advance to the Region 4 competition, and will also be recognized at the district’s annual Employee Recognition Banquet to be held later this year.
