HOUSTON – March 22, 2016 – The Spring Independent School District is seeking name nominations for an administrative building located on Ella Blvd. at the entrance of the Ponderosa Forest community. This building formerly housed the North Harris County Family YMCA until it closed several years ago. The district purchased the building last spring.
This facility is being used as a learning center for the district – offering space for meetings and training-and-development activities. Currently, the Family and Community Engagement and Workforce Development departments are housed in the 12,340-square-foot building.
Names submitted by students, staff and the community will be added to the list of names carried over from previous nominations and provided to the Board of Trustees for consideration.
According to Spring ISD board policy, district facilities may be named to honor an individual or family who has made an outstanding contribution to the quality of life and education in the district. A facility may also be named after a community within school district boundaries.
Those interested in submitting name suggestions should complete the nomination form located online at www.springisd.org/facilitynames and include relevant biographical or historical data about the nominee and reasons supporting the choice. All suggestions should be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, April 4.
