10 finalists will be unveiled throughout the next week

HOUSTON – April 25, 2016 – Spring ISD staff achievements from the 2015-16 school year will be highlighted May 3 during the annual Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet. In addition to celebrating employees who have served the district for 10, 20 and even 30 years, the district’s top teachers – one elementary and one secondary – will be honored as the Spring ISD Teacher of the Year.

The Teacher of the Year program recognizes outstanding educators for their passion and commitment to excellence in education. Each campus is asked to select a campus winner, who is then invited to submit written materials to be considered as a finalist for the district’s teacher of the year. Test scores, classroom observations and a selection committee help narrow down the pool. Winners are eligible to receive a new Ford vehicle or an all-expense paid Caribbean cruise from long-time district supporter and event sponsor Planet Ford.

The 10 finalists will be unveiled over the next week just in time to kick-off National Teacher Appreciation week. The full list and their interviews will be posted by Monday, May 2.
