HOUSTON – June 15, 2016 – Spring ISD will continue to host summer school for students who did not meet standard for the state-mandated STAAR Reading and/or STAAR Math assessments, although students are no longer required to retake the tests.
“We are committed to helping students achieve their academic goals regardless of their performance on the test and recognize that many of these students need academic intervention,” said Dr. Lupita Hinojosa, chief academic officer. “As a result, summer school will continue as previously planned to ensure our students receive the support they need for academic success.”
A letter outlining details regarding the Student Success Initiative and promotion standards for fifth and eighth-graders was sent to parents of affected students. For more information, go to the Summer School web page.
