HOUSTON – April 19, 2017 – The Spring Independent School District Smart Start program will celebrate the Week of the Young Child, April 24-28 at the Spring ISD Learning Center. The week-long celebration will feature a different, hour-long educational activity session each day for parents with infant children up to four years of age. The nationwide observance is promoted annually by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
“We want to motivate parents to get engaged with their young children by playing and doing simple, yet educational activities that will help them be ready for school,” said Vilma Gomez, Spring ISD parent practice coordinator. “This celebration is an opportunity to reach all of our future students that will soon be coming into our classrooms.”
The following sessions will incorporate parent and child learning activities and offer parents an opportunity to take material home to continue learning and engaging in their young child’s education.
- Monday, April 24, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. – Sing and Dance
- Tuesday, April 25, 1-2 p.m. – Yummy Tuesday
- Wednesday, April 26, 6-7 p.m. – Build Together
- Thursday, April 27, 10-11 a.m. – Create Art
- Friday, April 28, 6-7 p.m. – Family Play
