HOUSTON – June 19, 2017 – Spring ISD has just launched an action-packed summer program to help students avoid the summer slide – the tendency for children to lose some of the skills they work so hard to develop and grow during the past school year.

Reading is one area where summer slide can be really impactful if not addressed, and the district is providing recommended, age-appropriate reading lists for elementary, middle and high school students to help avoid that pitfall.

The reading lists are located on the ”Avoid the Summer Slide – It’s a risk to your success” webpage along with a checklist of 101 Things to Do Over Summer, and Ready Rosie Summer Soar activities for preschoolers. Go to www.springisd.org/avoidthesummerslide for these and other resources in both English and Spanish.

In addition, parents and students are invited to follow the district on <a href=”http://facebook.com/SpringISD” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Facebook and <a href=”http://twitter.com/SpringISD” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Twitter for timely tips and updates to help students stay on top of their game this summer and be better prepared when they start school in August.
