HOUSTON – April 23, 2018 – Nearly 40 exhibitors will be at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School on Saturday, May 12 to showcase health products and services at the district’s Fun Run and Wellness Fair from 7:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
Professionals will be on hand to provide free blood pressure screenings, facials, massages and offer information on everything from yoga to dental and vision care. The event is free and open to the public, in hopes that the Spring ISD community will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the health and wellness resources in the area.
“We are very excited to bring this Wellness Fair to our community,” said Pamela David, Spring ISD Benefits director. “It’s about connecting people to information and services that can make a real difference in their lives. We’re also going to have plenty of giveaways and fun activities.”
The event is part of the district’s inaugural Fun Run and Wellness Fair designed to recognize the three-year mark of the district’s ambitious five-year strategic plan, Every Child 2020. For community members wanting to start the morning with a good workout, the district is hosting a fun run and walk at 7:30 a.m. The walkers will complete a 1.5 mile walk from Wunsche into Old Town Spring, and runners will compete in a 3-mile run.
Show your support by registering online for the race, priced at $15 for adults and $10 for students, through Friday, May 4 at 5 p.m. Same day registration will be available on May 12 from 6 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. at a price of $25 for adults and $20 for students. Proceeds from the event will go toward student scholarships.
“I’m looking forward to seeing students, parents, staff and all of our community out at this event, whether walking, running or visiting all the exhibitors at our Wellness Fair,” said Dr. Rodney Watson, Spring ISD superintendent. “This is a perfect time to get some exercise, visit with friends and colleagues and learn about all the health and wellness resources in the area.”
In addition to the exhibitors, several food trucks will be on site with a variety of items for sale. Parking will be available in the student lot on the west side of Wunsche. The starting line for the Fun Run and the entrance to the Wellness Fair is on the back or north side of the school.
David said the event is a great way to kick off Mother’s Day weekend. “Moms and families can spend time together doing something healthy and fun,” she said.
