HOUSTON – Dec. 5, 2018 – In memory of our nation’s 41st president, George Herbert Walker Bush, all Spring ISD schools will be honoring his presidency and legacy tomorrow, Dec. 6.
The district will be observing a moment of silence in his memory and conducting student-led announcements highlighting his life and accomplishments. Where possible, these activities will be conducted while the funeral procession train, Bush 4141, travels through the district to College Station.
In addition, the district is inviting all students and staff to wear colorful socks and/or red, white and blue clothing to honor the former president who found joy in family, public service – and in bright socks.
Campuses and employees districtwide are being encouraged to share photos of their own bright socks on Twitter @SpringISD #springremembers41.
One of the district’s schools, Salyers Elementary, is located at 25705 Hardy Street in Spring next to the railroad upon which the train transporting the former president will be traveling.
As a tribute to the former president, Salyers students at all grade levels have been making flags and signs to display as the train passes by their school sometime after 1 p.m.
