HOUSTON – Jan. 11, 2019 – Get set to stretch those muscles in preparation for Spring ISD’s second annual 3-mile Fun Run and Wellness Fair to be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23.
Registration is now open for the event, which includes a 3-mile run course, a 1.5-mile walk course, music, kid-friendly activities and a wellness fair. The Fun Run and Wellness Fair celebrates the district’s strategic plan, EVERYchild 2020, now in its fourth year, and raises money in support of student scholarships. Everyone is encouraged to participate as a runner, walker, vendor, sponsor or donor.
The run/walk course will start at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School and go through Old Town Spring, where the history and traditions of the Spring community began. Vendors will be on hand at Wunsche to promote health and wellness at the fair that will run until 12 noon.
In 2018, hundreds of participants took part in both the Fun Run and Wellness Fair. More than 30 vendors and food trucks supported the event where participants enjoyed giveaways, fitness demonstrations, free blood pressure checks and plenty of opportunities to interact with experts in the areas of health and wellness.
“This event once again allows the Spring community to come together to support our talented students as they follow their goals and dreams in higher education,” said Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson. “Whether you decide to walk, run, cheer on your student, or just come out to the fair, you won’t be disappointed. There will be something available for everyone of all ages, and we hope everyone will join us again this year.”
Participants can now register online for the race, priced at $15 for adults and $10 for students, through Thursday, Feb. 14. Online registration fees will increase to $20 for adults and $15 for students for tickets purchased from Feb. 15 until March 20. For those who wait until closer to the race date to decide, tickets will be available to purchase from March 21 until the day of the event – $25 for adults and $20 for students.
Those who would like to support Spring ISD scholarships for students but are unable to take part in the event are encouraged to make a donation in any amount.
