HOUSTON – Jan. 11, 2019 – Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson was officially sworn in as Chair of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce 2019 Board of Directors during a ceremony Thursday at the chamber’s Annual Member Appreciation Luncheon at Northgate Country Club.
Watson welcomed a “full house” of chamber members and guests on behalf of the Chamber Board and spoke briefly about the chamber’s vision for the coming year.
“The Board and Chamber staff are excited about the new vision of the Chamber to be the voice of the business, municipal, government and philanthropic entities of our community – fostering unity, growth and success for generations,” Watson said.
Chamber President Barbara Thomason said she has been working with Dr. Watson in preparation for this year and that implementing the chamber’s strategic plan will be gratifying.
“It is so exciting to work with someone who is a visionary, who thinks strategically, who is so understanding of how business, community, nonprofits and schools intertwine together and is committed to working within that framework,” Thomason said.
Watson was joined in front of the room by six other chamber members who also assumed roles on the Board of Directors for the swearing-in ceremony conducted by Judge Lincoln Goodwin, Harris County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace, Position 1.
Judge Goodwin also served as the keynote speaker at the luncheon, following the recognition of numerous chamber members for their years of service, including some who served 40 years or more.
