HOUSTON – March 8, 2019 – As students across Texas head into spring break, students at Westfield High School and Harris Health System wanted to send a strong message about how one decision can change lives in an instant.
Around 1,000 juniors and seniors from Westfield turned out on Thursday to watch a live enactment on the campus’ band parking lot presented by Shattered Dreams, a nationally recognized program that promotes responsible decision-making among high school students regarding underage drinking and impaired driving by showing them how irresponsible choices can end all dreams. The program is a collaborative effort between Harris Health System (Ben Taub and Lyndon B. Johnson hospitals), local law enforcement agencies, EMS personnel, and numerous community members including parents, high schools, and local funeral homes.
Since 2006, Harris Health has hosted an average of four Shattered Dreams presentations a year at high schools throughout the Houston-area.
