HOUSTON – May 29, 2019 – Nearly a dozen seniors who have already made career choices for their futures took the stage Tuesday under red, white and blue balloons as friends and family in the audience cheered and applauded.
The school held a special signing day to celebrate the students, some of whom are directly entering the workforce and others who are choosing military service. At Tuesday’s event, all of them signed letters of commitment to commemorate their choice.
“We came out here with our recruiters and our friends and family to celebrate a big special day and a big decision that we have made,” said senior Joshua Escobar who will be reporting for duty with the United States Navy this fall.
Escobar said a desire to become a better person and do something great for his country drove his decision to join the Navy. He was impressed with the large signing ceremony that the school organized for him and his classmates.
“It’s something that I’ve only seen on TV, with athletes and stuff, so to be able to be a part of something like that was pretty cool,” said Escobar.
