HOUSTON – July 17, 2019 – Spring ISD has announced its move to a new online registration system for the upcoming 2019-20 school year. The web-based system serves both new and returning students at all campuses, and is aimed at streamlining the registration process and improving the accuracy of student data maintained by the district.
Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson stressed the two big goals of the initiative – minimizing paperwork errors while also making it possible for parents to submit information more easily by computer.
“The shift to online registration means no more mountains of paperwork to fill in and return,” Watson said. “Instead, families can take care of this process at their convenience, using a computer or smartphone to get it done.”
New students will still need to gather important paperwork to complete the process, including the child’s birth certificate, proof of residency in Spring ISD, immunization records and social security card, if available. Required documents can be delivered to the student’s campus between July 29 and Aug. 9, or submitted during the district’s Back to School Expo on Saturday, July 27 at Dekaney High School.
The online system for returning students is now open and parents are able to complete an annual update for their enrolled students using a snapcode that is being emailed and sent by letter to their home address. This gives the opportunity to check that their contact information — including phone number and email address — is correct so that they can receive important messages throughout the school year, such as notifications sent out in the case of severe weather, school closures or emergencies. The online system will also simplify the registration process for families with multiple children in the district.
“We are excited to welcome our new families to the district and offer them the opportunity to register online when and where it is more convenient for them,” said Kelly Cline, the district’s assistant superintendent of federal and state compliance. “In addition, this online registration process will provide our returning Spring ISD families a straightforward way to update student information quickly and easily through an online verification checklist process.”
For more information about registration, or to begin online registration, visit www.springisd.org/register and review the general requirements for registration. Parents and guardians are asked to reach out directly to their child’s campus if they have questions about the online registration process.
