Spring ISD has launched a new parent-friendly web landing page in support of its Lift 6 initiative, which is focused on strengthening and improving the district’s six comprehensive middle schools.
The goal with the website is to provide transparency around the challenges and goals for each of the Lift 6 campuses – Bailey, Bammel, Claughton, Dueitt, Twin Creeks and Wells – and to keep parents in the loop.
“We are laser-focused on our neighborhood middle schools, especially after hearing from our parents last year about some of the changes and improvements they’d like to see for their students,” said Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson. “This new website with pages for each campus is another way to make sure our parents stay informed on everything Lift 6.”
The initiative, implemented this school year, uses strategies and best practices found at successful schools across the country. Specifically, the tenets of Lift 6 include:
- A culture of high expectations;
- Effective principals and teachers in every school;
- Maximized learning time;
- Data-driven instruction;
- High-dosage tutoring; and
- Safe and secure learning environments.
On the website, parents will find goals related to student achievement, campus improvement plans, guides to what students are learning in their core subjects, state and federal report cards, school quality surveys, each school’s unique crest and other resources, including information on parent classes and volunteering.
Watson emphasized that he views parents as partners in Lift 6, and the website is just one way to communicate. The individual Lift 6 campuses are also committed to sending out regular newsletters and updates on student progress. Throughout the year, additional resources will be added to the Lift 6 website, so parents should check back often.
“We are excited about Lift 6 and the potential to transform the middle school experience for our students and families,” Watson said. “We’ve heard from parents, and we’re committed to raising expectations and achievement on all of these campuses.”
