HOUSTON – Oct. 14, 2019 – The Spring Independent School District has invited all high school seniors to participate in its annual Smart Kid Cool Car program, a vehicle giveaway sponsored by Honda of Spring. Deserving seniors can qualify to win a brand-new 2020 Honda Civic LX if they meet specific requirements related to academics, attendance and community service.
This program, now in its fourth year, recognizes students who are motivated academically and also active in service to the community.
“This is a great opportunity for a deserving student to win a car they can take with them to college,” said Dr. Rodney E. Watson, Spring ISD superintendent. “We’re grateful for this partnership with Honda of Spring and their generous support of Smart Kid Cool Car. This program wouldn’t exist without them, and we’re so fortunate to be able to have them be a part of our Spring ISD family.”
The new vehicle will be raffled off this May in a special ceremony to be held at Honda of Spring. In order to earn a ticket for the drawing, seniors must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA, pass all state-required End of Course exams, maintain a 95 percent attendance rate during the year, complete 25 hours of community service, have no out-of-school discipline infractions and complete Naviance requirements. For a list of all the requirements, please visit: www.springisd.org/smartkidcoolcar.
Seniors from each of the district’s five participating high schools are eligible: Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, Dekaney High School, Spring Early College Academy, Spring High School and Westfield High School.
Honda of Spring will be taking the vehicle on tour in the coming weeks so seniors can see exactly what’s at stake.
“We enjoy working with Spring ISD on Smart Kid Cool Car because it’s an opportunity for us to really showcase those students who are doing everything right,” said Honda of Spring General Manager Jason Jackson. “The 2020 Honda Civic LX is an absolutely beautiful car and will be a great ride for one lucky Spring ISD student. We just hope all Spring ISD seniors will work hard to get their name in the drawing and come out for the big event in May.”
