HOUSTON – Nov. 21, 2019 – A Springwoods Village Middle School student will be dancing in the Houston Repertoire Ballet’s 21st annual performance of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”
Kessa Vorderbruggen, an 8th-grade student, will be performing in the holiday classic on Dec. 6, 7 and 8. The ballet will feature Jared Matthews as the Cavalier with the Cypress Philharmonic directed by Glynnes Lanthier.
Vorderbruggen has been learning ballet for the past 10 years, practicing up to 30 hours a week. Her goal is to attend university and take a double major in the arts and business.
Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB) is Houston’s premier pre-professional ballet company. The goal of HRB is to give young, talented, dedicated dancers the serious training needed for them to enter the professional world of dance, and many of them advance to professional ballet companies throughout the country.
HRB graduates have danced with New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet and other prestigious companies.
