HOUSTON – Nov. 19, 2019 – The online application for the district’s schools of choice is now open and available at www.springisd.org/choice for fifth- and eighth-grade students interested in attending one of these speciality schools during the 2020-21 school year.
Spring ISD offers four schools of choice, two at the middle school level and two at the high school level. They include: Roberson Middle School, Spring Leadership Academy for middle school and Carl Wunsche Sr. High School and Spring Early College Academy for high school.
All online applications must be completed by Dec. 17 in order for students to be considered for these schools. All applications submitted by the deadline will be entered into the Phase One review to determine eligibility.
Those eligible students will be notified by late January that they are moving onto Phase Two review, which may involve an audition and/or interview at some campuses. Students who pass the Phase Two review will then be entered into a lottery.
Any families who have questions about the online application are encouraged to attend a district help session scheduled in December. They will be held at the Spring ISD Community Engagement Center, 17125 Ella Blvd., Houston, TX 77090 on the following dates and times:
- Dec. 3, 17 – Lonestar Room 8 a.m.- 10 a.m.
- Dec. 5, 12 – Lonestar Room 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Creating opportunities and choice for Spring ISD secondary students is part of the district’s strategic plan, Every Child 2020.
