HOUSTON – Jan. 8, 2020 – Time to start training for Spring ISD’s third annual Fun Run and Wellness Fair to be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School.
Registration is now open for the event, which includes a 3-mile run course for ages 14 and up, a 1.5-mile run course for ages 13 and under and a 1.5-mile walk course for all ages, wellness fair, music and kid-friendly activities. The Fun Run and Wellness Fair raises money in support of student scholarships and everyone is encouraged to participate as a runner, walker, vendor, sponsor or donor.
The run/walk course will start at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School and go through Old Town Spring, where the history and traditions of the Spring community began. Vendors will be on hand at Wunsche to promote health and wellness at the fair that will run until 12 noon.
In 2019, hundreds of participants took part in both the Fun Run and Wellness Fair. Dozens of vendors and food trucks supported the event where participants enjoyed giveaways, fitness demonstrations, free blood pressure checks and plenty of opportunities to interact with experts in the areas of health and wellness.
“This event is one of my favorites because it is so much fun to see so many students, families and Spring ISD community members come together,” said Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson. “I want to challenge everyone to put their best foot forward on behalf of our students. Whether you’re a runner or a walker, you’re going to have a good time and help us raise money for our graduating seniors.”
Participants should take advantage of early bird pricing and register online for the race, priced at $20 for adults and students 14 and over, through Feb. 15.
Online registration fees will increase to $25 if purchased from Feb. 16 until March 25. For those who wait until closer to the race date to decide (March 26 through March 27) the registration fee will be $30. On the day of the Fun Run, day-of-event registration will be $40.
Lower pricing is available for students 13 and under who register for the 1.5 mile race. The cost is $15 through Feb. 15, but increases to $20 from Feb. 16 through March 25. Late registration on March 26 through March 27 will cost $25 and day-of-event pricing is $30.
Remember, all of the proceeds fund scholarships for Spring ISD students pursuing higher education goals. Last year, the event raised $10,000 for scholarships and this year’s goal is $15,000.
Those who would like to support Spring ISD scholarships for students but are unable to take part in the event are encouraged to make a donation in any amount.
