HOUSTON – June 2, 2020 – Honda of Spring is giving away a brand-new Civic LX to one Spring ISD senior in the district’s annual Smart Kid Cool Car contest, which will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at the dealership.
The program will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and will include brief remarks from Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson, Board President Rhonda Newhouse and Honda of Spring General Manager Jason Jackson before they announce the name of the winner.
The drawing includes 215 Spring ISD seniors, all of whom became eligible for the contest by meeting a list of requirements, including maintaining a cumulative 2.5 GPA; passing all state-required End of Course exams; maintaining a 95 percent attendance rate during the year; completing 25 hours of volunteer service in the Spring community; having no out-of-school discipline infractions; and completing the required postsecondary planning assignments.
“We’re excited to celebrate our high-achieving students and grateful for Honda of Spring’s ongoing generosity in supporting this program,” said Watson. “We weren’t sure we were going to be able to hold this event this year because of the pandemic, but we’re thankful that Honda of Spring has figured out a way to make it happen, and that one lucky student will win a car.”
The names of the eligible students are available at www.springisd.org/smartkidcoolcar.
This year, to comply with all social distancing requirements, the event will be held outside, with each participating student staying in a designated parking spot.
When the winner is announced, the student will be asked to come forward for a photo opportunity and to complete the steps necessary to take possession of the new vehicle. This year’s drawing will be done online under the supervision of the district’s internal auditor prior to the announcement of the winning student’s name during the live event.
