HOUSTON – Harris County Public Health announced in a news release that Harris County’s two stationary COVID-19 test sites in Pasadena and Cy Fair are getting a big boost from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS). The state and federal government are providing thousands of additional test kits and lab capacity, for quicker test results, in 3 to 5 business days.
According to the release, it’s important for people to know if they have COVID-19 because up to 40 percent of infected people have no symptoms, but are still contagious.
There is a new and separate website to register for Surge Testing: www.doineedacovid19test.com or call 832-927-7575. To get tested at the surge sites, people must be 13 or older, register and select an appointment time and keep their assigned voucher ID, which is required for testing. They also need to keep the username and password they registered with because they will need that to get their test results, in 3-5 days. Surge Sites are open Monday-Saturday and now have evening hours one day a week at each site: Tuesdays in Cy Fair at Pridgeon Stadium from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursdays in Pasadena at San Jacinto College Central Campus, also from 4 to 8 p.m.
The release also stated that test results are faster now for the mobile test sites, 2 to 4 days. Sign up online at www.hcphtx.org or by calling 832-927-7575. This is a different website than the one above for Surge Testing. Children can be tested at mobile sites. Since all test sites offer drive-through testing, extreme heat or storms may cause sites to close temporarily.
Mobile sites change location weekly and are open five days, Monday-Saturday, and closed one weekday. For all locations, you must register and take the self-assessment to get an authorization code to be tested.
Mobile locations for the week of August 10-15, Monday-Saturday are:
- El Franco Lee Park 9400 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089 Closed Tuesday, August 11
- Flukinger Community Center 16003 Lorenzo St, Channelview, TX 77530 Closed Wednesday, August 12
