HOUSTON – Oct.8, 2020 – Spring ISD unveiled a new data dashboard on Tuesday to augment the information that it is already making available to parents, staff and the community related to COVID-19 in district schools.
The newest dashboard shows the percentage of students opting for in-person instruction versus at-home learning and is available at www.springisd.org/learningtracker.
“We feel this information is very important for parents who might be trying to decide whether they want to send their students back to the classroom or keep them at home,” said Chief of Communications and Innovation Tiffany Dunne-Oldfield. “Families can see the exact percentage of students at any campus by their mode of instruction. That will help reassure parents of our ability to maintain important health and safety protocols like social distancing if they can see what percentage of students are on campus.”
The learning tracker is the latest effort by the district to provide accurate and timely information about COVID-19 in schools and facilities.
Since the beginning of online classes on Aug. 17, the district has been tracking COVID-19 cases and is sharing that data on a special dashboard, updated nightly, located at www.springisd.org/covidtracker. The goal is to provide up-to-date information so that families and staff have the latest data available.
“We are very committed to being transparent with our families, staff and community about COVID-19,” Dunne-Oldfield said. “We’re notifying our in-person families when we have new positive cases on our campuses and updating our website daily with that information. We believe that this information is vital as we work to maintain a safe and healthy environment in our schools and buildings.”
The district is also reporting all of the data to the Texas Education Agency each week as required. The state is updating its website weekly.
