Spring ISD announced its schedule for the coming week after an unprecedented winter storm caused widespread power and water outages across the area with many homes damaged from broken pipes.
To give families and staff time to recover, all campuses and district offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 22. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, there will be no virtual or in-person classes and teachers/students will have another day off for recovery. However, those employees on a 226-day contract should report to work in person on Tuesday, Feb. 23, to help prepare campuses for teachers to return on Wednesday, Feb. 24, which was already a scheduled remote asynchronous day for all students.
Unfortunately, three of campuses in the district suffered additional damage so campus staff at Bailey, Burchett and Twin Creeks will also remain home on Wednesday, Feb. 24 providing remote asynchronous instruction to students. On Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26, the district will resume normal operations and all in-person and virtual students will return to their regular schedules, except for those at Bailey, Burchett and Twin Creeks, where students and staff will engage in remote synchronous learning.
With ongoing shortages in grocery stores, the district announced that curbside meal service will resume at all regular locations, except for Bailey Middle School, starting Monday, Feb. 22. “We hope this will provide families who have not had water, or who lost food during the power outages, some relief,” said Superintendent Rodney E. Watson.
