For more than seven decades, the Spring Livestock Show & Fair has been a part of the calendar for those living in and around Spring.
And since 2007, the Spring ISD Superintendent’s Stampede has been a major part of the annual Buyer’s Luncheon that is the highlight of the three-day Livestock Show & Fair.
Attendees of the event have the opportunity to view and bid on livestock, baked goods, arts, crafts, building projects and photography, and the Superintendent’s Stampede Buyers Group was formed to purchase livestock exhibited at the show and then donate the processed meat to local nonprofits. The Stampede is a joint effort and raises funds through donations from Spring ISD staff and community members.
This year, the Superintendent’s Stampede raised $25,000. The auction also attracted new bidders this year and garnered increased bids for the livestock up for auction.
“Once again, the Spring Livestock Show and Fair was a highlight of the school year for everyone involved,” said Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa. “It’s always such a joy to come out and witness the hard work of our students who raise these animals. The Superintendent’s Stampede was formed more than 15 years ago to help show the district’s support of the show and the students involved.”
The Spring Tri-Club, a 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors the event, uses funds raised at the fair to provide graduating seniors with scholarships or for continuing students to raise another animal the following year.
