Spring ISD’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department hosted a special event on November 21, to celebrate the incredible dedication of district families to student success. The event, filled with smiles, valuable resources, and a delicious BBQ, highlighted the strong partnership between families, schools, and the district.
Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa addressed the gathering, providing updates and taking time to listen to parents’ comments, concerns, and questions. Approximately 220 attendees, including students, parents, teachers, and staff, came together to honor the essential role families play in education.
To ensure the event was inclusive and welcoming, Spring ISD provided several family-friendly services. Childcare and homework help were available for children, allowing parents to fully engage. Interpretation services ensured Spanish-speaking families could participate seamlessly, with live translation provided throughout the event.
One parent, Betsaida Gonzalez, shared her inspiring story of involvement in her children’s education. With one child at Robertson Middle School and another at Spring Early College Academy, Ms. Gonzalez emphasized the impact her active participation has had.
“I have been volunteering since my children were in elementary school, and being involved in their education has helped them grow into successful students. The district provides tools and resources to support us, and I appreciate that they ensure we understand everything in our language—from social media to interpretation services. Spring ISD supports and listens to us.”
Spring ISD values the vital role parents and guardians play in shaping the future of its students. The district encourages families to stay actively engaged in their child’s education and offers several ways to get involved:
- Volunteer: Assist with school events, classroom activities, or special programs.
- Stay Informed: Attend parent-teacher conferences, school council meetings, and workshops.
- Support Activities: Cheer on students in extracurriculars like sports, music, and clubs.
- Monitor Progress: Use online portals and regular check-ins to track your child’s growth.
- Promote Learning at Home: Create moments for educational activities like reading together.
For more information about getting involved, reach out to the FACE Department or your child’s school. Together, we can continue to build a strong foundation for student success.
