Spring ISD’s Winter Wonderland event is set to return to Planet Ford Stadium on Friday, Dec. 13 at 5:00 p.m.
The free annual event – first held in 2015 – welcomes hundreds of area families and Spring ISD students for an evening of literacy-themed activities, games and holiday fun. The district expects around 2,000 people to attend the event.
Attendees can expect a variety of themed activity stations for students and families, designed and run by Spring ISD departments and their staff.
As is the case every year, each child who attends has the opportunity to take home new books of their very own to enjoy over the holidays and into the new year. This year, for the second consecutive time, that tradition will be even more special—thanks to a partnership between Spring ISD and the Spring chapter of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).
Through the Reading Opens the World program, the Spring American Federation of Teachers received a grant for 40,000 books and a $10,000 First Book Marketplace credit to select and purchase high-quality, diverse books to spread the joy of reading and support students and educators.
Thanks to the ongoing partnership with AFT and First Book, approximately 5,000 free copies of the bestselling Magic Tree House series books are being generously donated by author, Mary Pope Osborne. The Spring AFT chapter will donate the books to the Spring ISD community.
Spring ISD’s Winter Wonderland is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Planet Ford Stadium. For more information, visit springisd.org.
