Jenkins Elementary School is setting the bar high for academic collaboration and student success, thanks to the unwavering dedication of its educators and the visionary leadership of Principal Cecily Parker. Last year’s Spring ISD Elementary Principal of the Year, Parker has fostered a culture where teachers work together seamlessly to ensure students thrive academically.
Through a well-structured Professional Learning Community (PLC), Jenkins Elementary teachers engage in frequent and meaningful collaboration. They align their instruction both horizontally—across the same grade levels—and vertically—to ensure continuity between grades. This intentional focus has created a unified approach to teaching and learning, leading to measurable progress in student assessments across all subjects.
“Our students deserve the very best, and that starts with us as educators,” said Parker. “By aligning our teaching strategies and learning from one another, we’re creating an environment where every student can succeed.”
The impact of this collaborative approach is evident in the school’s improved assessment results. Teachers analyze data, share effective strategies, and work collectively to address the diverse needs of their students, all while fostering a supportive and innovative learning environment.
Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa applauded the school’s achievements.
“Jenkins Elementary demonstrates how teamwork and a shared vision can drive excellence,” Hinosoja said. “Principal Parker and her team exemplify our mission to empower every student to reach their highest potential through collaboration and dedication.”
Spring ISD Assistant Superintendent of Academics Dr. LaTracy Harris also praised the school’s success.
“The commitment of Jenkins Elementary to professional learning communities is a shining example of how strategic collaboration leads to transformative results,” Harris said. “Their efforts have set a standard for what’s possible in Spring ISD.”
Jenkins Elementary’s story is an inspiring example of the work taking place in Spring ISD’s elementary schools.
