Kimberly Culley has been named the new principal of Richey Academy. A veteran educator with two decades of service, Culley founded Springwoods Village Middle School (SVMS) in 2018 and led the campus through the rigorous International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme authorization process, earning Spring ISD’s first IB World School designation in 2021. Her work has been spotlighted at the IB Global Conferences in Washington, D.C. (2024) and New Orleans (2025), where she shared practical strategies for building an inclusive, inquiry-driven school culture.
Before opening SVMS, Culley served as principal of Smith Elementary, where she established a culture of accountability, launched a PTO and Watch D.O.G.S. program, and strengthened data-driven instruction, RTI, and PLC systems to boost student success. Earlier roles in Spring ISD and Harts Bluff ISD, including assistant principal, instructional specialist, and state-testing coordinator, gave her a strong foundation in curriculum design, teacher coaching, and family engagement.
Culley holds a Master of Education from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University. She is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and responsive environment in which every Richey Academy student can thrive, and she looks forward to partnering with staff, families, and the wider community to build on the school’s strengths and create new opportunities for excellence.
