Spring ISD’s Bailey Middle School Percussion Ensemble has once again earned national recognition, earning a 2025 National Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Percussion Ensemble Honors Project, presented by the Foundation for Music Education.

The Foundation for Music Education, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and recognizing outstanding achievement in music programs across the country, receives thousands of ensemble submissions each year. Only a select few are named national winners, placing Bailey’s ensemble among the nation’s elite.

This latest honor marks the ensemble’s second national title, following its first win in 2014. That same year, the Bailey Symphonic Band was also named a national winner, making 2014 a historic milestone for the campus. With this latest achievement, Bailey Middle School continues its legacy of musical excellence at both the district and national level.

Cam Simpson, Bailey Middle School Director of Bands and PVA Department Chair, praised the ensemble’s dedication and artistry.

“This achievement is the result of our students’ hard work, talent, and dedication, supported by an incredible team of educators, administrators, families, and community members who make success like this possible,” Simpson said.

The Mark of Excellence program recognizes the highest levels of student music performance across the country. Earning a national award places Bailey’s percussion students among the top middle school ensembles in the nation.

Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Kregg Cuellar congratulated the ensemble and its leadership.

“Earning a second national title is no small feat,” Cuellar said. “It speaks volumes about the students’ passion, discipline, and artistry, as well as the unwavering commitment and leadership you provide every single day.”

He continued: “The dedication of your ensemble and the supportive community around them is truly inspiring. This national recognition not only brings immense pride to Bailey Middle School, but also to all of Spring ISD. We’re thrilled to celebrate this moment and look forward to seeing what incredible things are ahead for our talented students.”

With two national titles now in its history, the Bailey Middle School Percussion Ensemble continues to set the bar for excellence, inspiring future musicians and reinforcing the power of teamwork, commitment, and creativity.
