Spring ISD hosted its fifth annual Rising Writers Expo at Dekaney High School on Jan. 29, bringing together students, families and educators to celebrate the unique voices of youth and young adult writers across the district. Centered on this year’s theme, Once Upon Our Time, the event highlighted the power of storytelling and how writing helps students share who they are with the world.

More than 300 community members, business partners, faith leaders, elected officials and district leaders gathered at the Hilton Houston North for Spring ISD’s 2026 State of the District, themed “The Power of One Degree.” The event reinforced the district’s theme of how one extra degree of effort — from students, educators, and the community — can turn momentum into measurable achievement.

El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Spring ha recibido, por primera vez en su historia, un reconocimiento a nivel distrital por la educación teatral al obtener el Premio Premier Communities for Theatre Education otorgado por Texas Thespians Educational Theatre Association, una de las entidades rectoras de la educación teatral en Texas. Spring ISD es uno de solo 21 distritos en todo el estado en recibir este prestigioso reconocimiento.

Spring Independent School District has earned its first-ever districtwide distinction for theatre education, receiving the Texas Thespians Premier Communities for Theatre Education Award from the Texas Thespians Educational Theatre Association—one of the governing bodies for theatre education in Texas.
