Overall, 20 students from Spring, Westfield and Dekaney high schools signed to play football, baseball, and even rowing with schools both far away and closer to home, including Rice University, Howard University, West Point (Army), and University of Southern California, among others.

As a varsity football defensive lineman, Westfield High School senior Nehemiah Allen is no stranger to pushing boundaries—both on and off the field. Having proudly donned the Mustang logo since his sophomore year, Allen will soon trade it for the gold and black of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he will play football and serve as a U.S. Army cadet.

It was well before the sun had even started to rise on Wednesday morning, but the Spring ISD Transportation Department was already in full swing. Just before 5 a.m., drivers filed into the building off Richey Road before heading out to the parking lot behind to start up their buses. Mechanics stood at the ready near the shop, just in case any last minute fixes were needed.
