HOUSTON – November 30, 2015 – Spring High School has been selected as a 2016 GRAMMY Signature School semifinalist by the GRAMMY Foundation. The program recognizes top U.S. public high schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year.
The nationwide competition considers and rates a school’s entire music program during the selection process. For Spring High this includes band, choir, jazz, percussion and small ensembles.
“This recognition is a testament to the outstanding accomplishments of Spring High’s student musicians, numbering over 500,” said Joe Clark, Spring ISD performing and visual arts director. “With several thousand schools competing, we are honored that Spring High School is one of only five schools in the state of Texas and 119 nationally that have been selected for this distinction.”
In mid-March 2016, the GRAMMY Foundation will announce the finalists for the GRAMMY Signature Schools program. These schools will receive a custom award and a monetary grant ranging from $1,000 up to $6,000 to benefit their music program.
