Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson and Link Elementary Principal Donna Trevino-Jones accept a check from Faith Parten with the Junior League of The Woodlands.
HOUSTON – March 8, 2016 – The staff from Link Elementary had such a good turnout during a recent event hosted by the Junior League of The Woodlands, that the JLTW made a visit to the school and brought along a check for $500.
The JLTW’s annual IMPACT (Increase and Motivate Positive Awareness in Children and Teachers) event provides leadership training and inspiration to area educators. The group partnered with 10 area school districts and invited educators to attend with the added incentive of earning continuing education credits.
A new component of the IMPACT conference this year was a competition that awarded $500 for the highest attendance to one school in each participating school district. For Spring ISD, that award went to Link Elementary. Link Principal Donna Trevino-Jones and Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson welcomed Faith Parten who delivered the check on behalf of the JLTW to the school.
Trevino-Jones expressed the school’s appreciation for the award, and said that the money would be used to help out with staff development initiatives.
Parten said the JLTW was excited to deliver checks to the winning schools. She said, “Visiting the schools gives us a sense of where the needs are, and we are always looking for anything that we can help with.”
