HOUSTON – May 24, 2016 – Three Spring High School seniors, who have served as cadets in the school’s Navy JROTC program, have been awarded substantial ROTC scholarships that will allow them to continue pursuing a military career after graduation. Isaac Banani and Mikah Campbell have both received Navy ROTC scholarships and Brianna Musachia has received an Army ROTC scholarship. Other cadets who will be graduating also have received scholarships that bring the regiment’s total this year to $3.766 million.
“I can’t think of three finer individuals to receive these ROTC scholarships,” said Captain James Boyer, Spring High School Navy JROTC director. “They have served in leadership roles and consistently taken top honors in JROTC state and national competitions, including physical fitness training and academics.”
Isaac Banani has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy valued at approximately $625,000 over a five-year period. He will begin his studies this June at the academy’s prep school and enter the academy in June 2017.
Banani has been highly sought after, with scholarship offers totaling over $1.5 million – a record amount for Spring High’s JROTC program. After he completes his naval training at the academy and is commissioned, he will still have approximately $160,000 in scholarships to continue his postsecondary education.
Banani has participated in JROTC at Spring High for four years. He served as the regiment’s Command Master Chief in 2014-15 and 1st Battalion Commanding Officer in 2015-16.
Mikah Campbell has received a four-year Navy ROTC scholarship to the University of Texas valued at approximately $205,000. He has participated in the Spring High JROTC program for three years, most recently serving as Company Commander, while at the same time achieving Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America.
Brianna Musachia has been awarded a three-year Army ROTC scholarship to Sam Houston State University valued at approximately $110,000. She has participated in the JROTC program at Spring High for four years and served as the regiment’s Executive Officer for 2015-16.
