HOUSTON – Sept. 22, 2016 – The Spring Independent School District is inviting all high school seniors to participate in a newly launched car giveaway program sponsored by Honda of Spring. Deserving seniors can qualify to win a brand-new Honda Civic if they meet specific requirements related to academics, attendance, community service and postsecondary planning.
The Smart Kid Cool Car program will recognize students who are motivated academically and also active in service to the community, as demonstrated by maintaining a cumulative 2.5 GPA; passing all state-required EOC exams; maintaining a 95% attendance rate during the year; completing 25 hours of community service in the Spring community; having no out-of-school discipline infractions; and completing the required post secondary planning assignments.
“Any graduating senior in the district who meets the requirements is going to get a chance to win a car!” said David Baxter, principal of Dekaney High School. “The idea that Honda of Spring is stepping up in the community … that’s a fantastic way to show that the schools and community are working together.”
In partnering with the district, Honda of Spring’s management expressed its desire to give as many seniors as possible an opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work during the 2016-17 school year.
“Honda of Spring really wanted to get involved in the community and offer a brand-new 2017 Honda Civic to a deserving student,” said General Manager Chuck Jett. “I love to see the kids light up and get excited about the car because it’s something we are excited about doing. A kid graduating from high school and having a brand-new car to take to college is something great.”
Seniors from five participating high schools are eligible: Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, Dekaney High School, Spring Early College Academy, Spring High School and Westfield High School. An award celebration and drawing is being planned for May 2017, giving seniors enough time to meet the program’s requirements.
Students may go to www.springisd.org/smartkidcoolcar for program requirements to qualify for the drawing.
