HOUSTON – May 10, 2017 – The Texas A&M University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) honored 29 “Transformational Leaders” – including Spring ISD’s Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson – during their 2017 Dean’s Roundtable May 5, at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in College Station.
“It’s an honor to have been among those chosen for this year’s recognitions,” Watson said. “Looking around the room during the event in College Station, I was inspired by the honorees gathered there, and have a renewed sense of mission – to make Spring ISD the best district possible in the service of our students and community.”
The list of 2017 honorees includes school superintendents, principals, classroom teachers, professors, counselors and other professionals working in related fields, both throughout Texas and elsewhere.
“By identifying transformational leaders to be honored at the Dean’s Roundtable, sponsors elevate the accomplishments of dedicated individuals who positively impact the lives of people throughout the great state of Texas and beyond,” said CEHD Dean Joyce M. Alexander. “This year, as always, our benefactors have chosen to honor a distinguished group of professionals who share our vision of transforming lives.”
Established in 1991, CEHD’s Dean’s Roundtable event has recognized more than 550 individuals, across multiple industries and cities, who have functioned as role models, mentors and servant leaders in their local communities. In addition, through the aid of generous sponsors, the event has helped raise more than $450,000 toward educational programs, scholarships and other college initiatives.
The College of Education and Human Development is the fourth-largest college at Texas A&M, with more than 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students studying across four academic departments (Educational Administration and Human Resource Development; Educational Psychology; Health and Kinesiology; and Teaching, Learning and Culture). The college is especially active in preparing certified teachers to serve in STEM-related fields, bilingual education and special education.
