Spring Independent School District has been named as a 2021 Empowered District by EVERFI, a tech company specializing in educational tools.
The EVERFI Empowered Seal is awarded to school districts and individual schools that display an outstanding commitment to educating the whole child through the use of EVERFI’s digital platforms. Spring ISD joins several other Texas districts with similar designations, such as Houston ISD, Fort Worth ISD, and Dallas ISD.
“We are thrilled to earn this year’s Empowered Seal from our partners at EVERFI,” Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson said. “Through this no-cost platform, we are able to provide more than 30,000 students with access to of-the-moment tools that they can use not just today but throughout their lives. We have worked hard throughout the pandemic to create a robust online learning experience for our students, and we are so glad that these efforts are paying off.”
EVERFI works with school districts across the country to provide digital learning platforms for students, using game-based lessons on topics such as social-emotional learning, digital literacy, college and career readiness, and financial capability.
In order to earn the Empowered Seal, school districts must meet certain criteria, including the use of efficacy-based programs, employing well-trained staff, utilizing appropriate grade-level placement of lessons, allowing for sufficient and equitable reach throughout the district, and evaluating the outcomes of lessons on a regular basis.
According to EVERFI, “the Empowered Seal honors and elevates the visibility of those school districts meeting high standards for student wellness and whole-child education, and serves as a signal of this commitment to their communities.”
