Children got a special delivery at Burchett Elementary School on Friday, as 60 backpacks with supplies were unloaded from an Amazon van and were handed out to students at the school.
Principal Na’Carol Dixon Hall watched the delivery people hand out the backpacks and noticed that the children weren’t the only ones smiling.
“Today in Bobcat Country we were graced with some Amazon Heros,” Dixon Hall said. “My heart was overjoyed just thinking about the smiling faces of all of the students who will receive these resources.”
Dixon Hall noted that it was one of her former teachers who made this day happen. Dr. William Green is the Owner of One Team Couriers, which delivers packages for Amazon. Principal Dixon Hall said that Dr. Green was instrumental in her growth and the development of her leadership skills over the years.
Amazon had recently contacted One Team Couriers to ask if they knew of a school that could use some extra backpacks. Dr. Green said that he knew just the right place and called his former student who is now the Burchett principal.
“It’s always a good feeling to give back to the kids, because we know that our kids are the heart of America,” said Green, adding that they will always be ready to do projects like this anytime that they can.
Dixon Hall was thankful for her former teacher and said that he came through in everything that he said he would do.
“We are looking forward to a wonderful partnership with him going forward,” she said.
