Two Spring ISD schools have been named to the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) annual “Honor Roll” list. Spring Early College Academy and Roberson Middle School were both named to the list.
The Honor Roll, now in its ninth year, recognizes top schools that have outperformed their peers in closing achievement gaps, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations.
“As a district, we are committed to educational equity for all of our students,” Dr. Lupita Hinojosa, Spring ISD Superintendent, said. “We are so excited that two of our schools are being recognized for consistently performing on statewide tests, and closing the achievement gap for their students. The impact of both Spring Early College Academy and Roberson Middle School will be felt with all of their students and their entire families.”
This year, 835 schools in Texas made the Honor Roll, or about 12 percent of all eligible schools in the state. Results are based on data of student outcomes on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) from 2019 through 2023.
Both schools were recognized for their achievements during the regular Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday evening.
“We are excited to be named on the Honor Roll as one of the top-performing schools in the state of Texas,” said Kristine Guidry, Spring Early College Academy principal. “As always, our goal is to provide the best possible education for our students at a very high academic level, and we are proud that the hard work of our students and our teachers has been recognized.”
Honor Roll schools are recognized for demonstrating consistently higher levels of student achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
“At Roberson Middle School, we aim to provide an opportunity for our students to succeed in high school, college, and beyond,” Cecelia Brumsey, Roberson Middle School principal, said. “Everyone on campus is focused on improving educational equity and promoting career readiness for all of our students, regardless of family income or background.”
The Texas Honor Roll is presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence in collaboration with the Texas Business Leadership Council and other business leaders across the state. To see the full list and learn more, visit www.edresults.org/honor-roll.
