Professionals from across Spring ISD gathered at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School on Saturday, October 19 for the Annual Fall Learning Fair, hosted by the district’s Professional Learning Development team. With approximately 440 faculty and administrative staff in attendance—double the number from last year—the event highlighted the district’s strong commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration.
The fair offered a wide range of sessions across various departments, including standout workshops such as “AI for Educators,” which explored the integration of artificial intelligence in the classroom, and Amplify program sessions tailored to K-8 educators, covering topics like “Analyzing Student Writing” and “Resources for Small Groups.” Other sessions, such as “Apps that SnAPP the AI Edition” and “Canva Essentials,” highlighted digital creativity, encouraging educators to bring fresh approaches to their teaching practices.
Participants were welcomed with a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and bacon, prepared by Wunsche High School’s Culinary Department, which set a positive tone for the day. Dr. Monique Lewis, executive director of professional learning, described the atmosphere as vibrant and upbeat, with music by Michael Jackson enhancing the lively ambiance.
“The energy was high, and there were smiles everywhere. It felt very much like a well-oiled machine, which is a testament to the excellent planning,” Lewis said.
With over 60 workshops led by respected partners like Amplify, Eureka, Carnegie, and Canva, educators left equipped with valuable strategies to enrich their classrooms immediately.
Jacredesha Jones, a fourth-grade reading and language arts teacher at Thompson Elementary and team leader at the Learning Fair, said the sessions left a tremendous impact on her.
“I gained so much from my sessions, with one of the key takeaways being the importance of student engagement,” Jones said. “It’s crucial to keep scholars actively involved in their learning. My instructor did an excellent job demonstrating how to incorporate vocabulary throughout the lesson and into stations.”
Representatives from departments such as Advanced Academics, Curriculum and Instruction, and Human Resources Services were present, showcasing the collaborative spirit within the district.
The Annual Fall Learning Fair at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School underscored Spring ISD’s dedication to professional growth, drawing enthusiastic participation from faculty and staff eager to incorporate new strategies into their work. With increased attendance and positive responses, the event exemplified the district’s commitment to fostering educational innovation and excellence.
