Spring ISD proudly celebrates the educators and campuses who continue to strengthen the bridge between school and home. This fall, the Communications Department launched the new “ClassDojo Champions of the Month” recognition to honor teachers and campuses whose commitment to family engagement is making a meaningful impact on student success across the district.
“ClassDojo usage this semester truly highlights our district’s commitment to family engagement,” said Spring ISD Chief of Staff Dr. LaTracy Harris. “Compared to this time last year, active staff members increased by 33%, school stories are up 26%, and class stories rose 22%. Together, these gains reflect a meaningful shift toward more consistent communication, showing that more teachers are engaging with families and fostering deeper connections than ever before.”
Celebrating October Champions
The Communications team kicked off campus visits at Claughton Middle School in November which was recognized as the Middle School ClassDojo Campus of the Month for October. The campus earned top honors for its strong teacher and family participation, commitment to a positive school culture, and dedication to supporting academic success.
Yolanda Jones, associate principal at Claughton Middle School, shared how ClassDojo plays a vital role in building relationships across the campus community.
“ClassDojo allows us to celebrate student growth, reinforce positive behavior, and keep families actively involved in the learning process,” said Jones. “It strengthens our school culture by helping teachers, students, and families stay connected, informed, and encouraged every step of the way.”
The celebrations continued at Bailey Middle School, where Rafina Bomar was named Middle School Teacher of the Month. Bomar stood out for her consistent communication with families and her ability to foster a classroom environment where student engagement, academic achievement, and daily celebrations go hand in hand.
Bailey Middle School associate principal Jy’Syria D. Selmon praised Bomar’s impact on family engagement.
“Ms. Bomar does an exceptional job keeping parents engaged by sharing when students are learning, collaborating, and achieving,” Selmon said. “Her communication highlights the many positive things happening on campus and helps families celebrate those moments.”
Honoring November Champions
The spotlight shifted to Anderson Elementary School, named ClassDojo Campus of the Month for November, and Winship Elementary School, where Akayla Joseph was recognized as Teacher of the Month. Both honorees exemplify Spring ISD’s belief that strong home-school partnerships lead to stronger student outcomes.
Anderson Elementary principal Kristin Falcon emphasized the importance of staying connected with families.
“ClassDojo keeps our Anderson community connected—from classroom updates to reminders and celebrations,” Falcon said. “It’s an easy and engaging way for families to stay involved in their child’s learning, and we’re excited to be recognized as the Campus Champion of the Month.”
For Teacher ClassDojo Champion Akayla Joseph, the recognition reflects her commitment to building meaningful connections.
“Using ClassDojo reminds me that teaching is about connection first,” she said. Every message, moment, and milestone I can share with families helps us grow together.”
