The Spring ISD Office of Communications was recognized with 36 Star Awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) for excellence in school communications during the 2024-25 school year, highlighted by a prestigious Crystal Commendation Award — one of the highest honors presented by the organization.
The awards were announced during the 2026 TSPRA Annual Conference Star Awards Banquet on Feb. 18 in Galveston. Each year, TSPRA honors outstanding work in print, electronic and visual communications submitted by school districts and education foundations across Texas.
Spring ISD earned:
- 18 Gold Star Awards
- 7 Silver Star Awards
- 7 Bronze Star Awards
- 3 Best of Category Awards
- 1 Crystal Commendation Award for its Video Portfolio
The Crystal Commendation Award represents a distinction reserved for entries that demonstrate exceptional creativity, strategic impact and excellence in execution. Spring ISD’s Video Portfolio was recognized for its powerful storytelling, production quality and ability to authentically capture the transformative work happening across the district.
“We are incredibly proud to receive 36 Star Awards, and especially honored to earn a Crystal Commendation for our Video Portfolio,” said Kristen Cobb, Executive Director of Communications. “That recognition affirms our belief that storytelling matters. When we tell the stories of our students and staff with excellence and intention, we strengthen trust, inspire pride and build deeper connections with our community. This honor belongs to our entire team and to the schools who allow us to capture the extraordinary work taking place every day in Spring ISD. I want to personally thank Superintendent Dr. Kregg Cuellar, our Spring ISD Board of Trustees, and Senior Leadership Team for their continued support.”
Judges across the U.S. evaluated thousands of submissions statewide and selected winners based on rigorous criteria established by TSPRA. School districts were judged in three separate enrollment categories. Spring ISD, serving approximately 32,000 students, competes in the 15,000 to 40,000 student division.
The Texas School Public Relations Association is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to promoting public schools through effective communications. TSPRA is an award-winning chapter of the National School Public Relations Association and represents more than 1,000 communications professionals across Texas.
