HOUSTON – Oct. 11, 2016 – Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, a career academy in Spring ISD, will host an Academy Showcase from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. Although the event is planned specifically to offer current eighth- and ninth-grade students and their parents the opportunity to learn more about the academy, community members are also welcome.
Wunsche is accepting online applications now through Oct. 31 from Spring ISD eighth and ninth graders for the 2017-18 school year. The showcase will provide information that students and their parents need to make informed decisions before applying.
The event will feature a tour of the facility, application assistance and previews, demonstrations and information about the school’s career pathways: computer technology, culinary and pastry arts, design and construction, legal studies, oil and gas production, premedical studies, systems engineering and veterinary studies.
Since opening in 2006, Wunsche has been recognized as a leader in providing Spring ISD students with access to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, real-world experience, rigorous coursework, and mentor and internship opportunities.
The academy integrates core academics with career pathway exploration in the areas of engineering, computer technology, oil and gas production, design and construction, legal studies, culinary arts, and the medical and veterinary sciences.
Students are able to earn college Advanced Placement credit, dual credit and articulated credit, therefore getting a head start on their post-secondary education. Over 1,000 certifications were earned by Wunsche students during the 2015-16 school year.
