HOUSTON – Aug. 14, 2017 – Spring ISD has been named among the winners of the 22nd Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award by the National Procurement Institute, marking the eighth consecutive annual win for the district’s procurement department.
“We’re very excited about continuing to receive this award,” said Executive Director of Procurement Phillip Ellison. For Ellison and his team, the award represents more than the prestige of being one of only 50 public and non-profit organizations in Texas to make the 2017 list of awardees, or the honor of being among only 26 school districts nationwide to meet the criteria. The award also represents a commitment to ongoing improvement and accountability.
“The criteria are updated annually,” Ellison said. “Each year, we have to strive to meet the new requirements. We’re always pushing ourselves to improve our scores, to show our community that we’re working to exceed the expectations and requirements set by the district and by state and federal governments.”
According to a statement from the National Procurement Institute, the honor “is awarded annually to recognize innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership in the procurement function.” For 2017, there were 205 successful applicants, including 48 counties, 68 cities, 25 higher education agencies, 26 school districts, 26 special districts and 12 state agencies.
