As Spring ISD prepares to open school choice applications online Monday, the district will be offering tours of the district’s specialty schools for families of fifth- and eighth-graders looking at secondary school options for next year, as well as for families of pre-K and kindergarten students.
Tours will be available daily at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 15 through Thursday, Nov. 18 at the following campuses: Roberson Middle School, Spring Leadership Academy, Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, Spring Early College Academy, Dekaney High School P-TECH, and the School for International Studies at Bammel.
Online applications open on Monday, Nov. 8, for the 2022-2023 school year. Parents can apply at www.springisd.org/schoolchoice.
“We know our families value choice when looking at specialty programs for their students,” said Dr. Lupita Hinojosa, Spring ISD’s chief of innovation and equity. “In addition to our great neighborhood campuses, Spring ISD has several wonderful specialty schools and programs that offer unique educational experiences to help students grow and thrive, and we encourage interested families to learn more about these options.”
Hinojosa said the upcoming campus tours offer an opportunity to learn more about the district’s specialty schools so families have the information they need to decide what programs they want to apply to.
Students entering sixth grade next year have the option of either Spring Leadership Academy or Roberson Middle School. Incoming ninth-graders can apply to Wunsche, Spring Early College Academy, or the P-TECH program at Dekaney High School. The new School for International Studies at Bammel, meanwhile, will be welcoming incoming pre-K and kindergarten students.
In addition to the tours, specialty campuses and programs will also hold showcase nights to provide another opportunity for families of prospective students to learn about their programs. This year’s schedule is as follows:
- Wunsche High School Showcase Night: Monday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
- Roberson Middle School Showcase Night, Monday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
- Spring Early College Academy Showcase Night: Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.
- Spring Leadership Academy Showcase Night: Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.
- Dekaney P-TECH Showcase Night: Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.
- Spring ISD Pre-K/Kindergarten Dual Language Showcase Night at the School for International Studies at Bammel: Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.
“There are so many exciting options in Spring ISD,” Hinojosa said. “We look forward to meeting with our families and telling them a little more about the ones that most interest them and their students.”
