Students and teachers from Reynolds Elementary School gathered at the grand opening of a new Burlington store last week, and were surprised with a $5,000 donation to the campus.
Burlington Stores – which opened up a new location at North Oaks Shopping Center near the corner of FM 1960 Road West and Veterans Memorial Drive – partnered with AdopAClassroom.org to surprise the students and teachers of Reynolds with the $5,000 donation.
“We definitely take pride in our community, and we definitely take pride in giving back to our community,” Selma Kavazic, Store Manager, said. “These kids are the future, so we definitely like to team up every single year and raise funds for the kids.”
Kavazic described this as just the beginning of a partnership with Reynolds Elementary and the surrounding community at large. Reynolds Elementary Principal Tim Livingston said he was “ecstatic” over this new partnership.
“One of the things that we are aiming to do is to see Reynolds Elementary School outside of the four walls and to establish relationships and partnerships with our businesses in our local community,” he said. “To have this recognition, this partnership, this collaboration be the impetus for further support for our kids is excellent. We are excited about the possibilities of working alongside not only Burlington but other businesses in our community to partner with on behalf of our kids.”
Burlington began partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org in 2017, and have since provided more than 1.3 million students with tools and supplies.
The money will be used to help teachers further supply their classrooms and students.
“This money is going right into the hands of our teachers,” Principal Livingston said. “A lot of them have aspirations and have visions for how they want to further embrace teaching and learning in a creative way. This will help to do that, and let them shop for their needs.”
The new location of Burlington is located at 4685 FM 1960 Road West.
