For 74 years, the unmistakable energy of the Spring Livestock Show & Fair has filled the Nagy Pavilion. Oinks, squads, squeals and moos nearly drowned out the excited chatter of community members and FFA. The gathering marked a special spot on the calendar for students, families, and community members. It is the culmination of months and years of hard work from FFA students from across the district. With sun-drenched barns, excited bidders, and proud young showmen leading animals through sawdust-covered rings, the tradition carried on in full color again this spring.
A centerpiece of the three-day event is the Spring ISD Superintendent’s Stampede—an enthusiastic buyers group that brings district leadership, staff, and community supporters together for a single purpose: to invest in the hard work of student exhibitors. Since its founding in 2007, the Stampede has served as an example of local commitment to student achievement and agricultural education.
This year, the Superintendent’s Stampede raised over $20,000—funds used to purchase student-raised livestock at the fair’s annual auction. That meat is then processed and donated to area nonprofits, ensuring the impact of each purchase extends far beyond the show ring.
“I am so excited to see the community come out to this amazing event,” Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa said. “These students worked so hard with their animals and their projects, I can’t help but be proud of the CTE and FFA programs here at Spring ISD.”
Alongside spirited bidding on lambs, goats, pigs, and steers, the fair also featured baked goods, arts and crafts, photography, and building projects created by students across the district.
“Our reason is these kids,” Spring ISD Director of Career and Technical Education Cynthia Williams said. “They are our why, and seeing their smiling faces and how hard they work brings me great joy.”
The show is hosted by the Spring Tri-Club, a local nonprofit organization that’s been at the heart of the fair since its inception. Proceeds help fund scholarships for graduating seniors and support students planning to return next year with a new project.
For over 70 years, the Spring Livestock Show & Fair has brought learning to life—celebrating student dedication, community pride, and the power of CTE and FFA to shape bright futures in Spring ISD. The skill, care, and commitment students pour into their animals and projects is evident in the remarkable quality of their work.
